CARE Course

The CARE Course is a two day interprofessional learning experience delivered in your local facility with your nurses, physicians and prehospital providers. The course focuses on comprehensive rural emergency care including airway management, trauma care, cardiac care, emergency obstetrics, pediatrics
and neonatal care.

The course is entirely practical. There are no didactic sessions. Over the two days, ~24 participants rotate through 32 hands-on learning stations equally divided between skill stations and high-fidelity scenarios. Find the full description here (PDF).

The CARE Course is a proud recipient of the College of Family Physicians of Canada CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT (CPD) PROGRAM AWARD! It also meets the accreditation criteria of The College of Family Physicians of Canada:
  • This Group Learning program has been certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada for up to 51 Mainpro+ credits.
  • The CARE Course is approved for 14 educational credits for paramedics by the Emergency Medical Assistants Licensing Board in BC.
  • The CARE Course meets the requirements for Quality Assurance and/or a Professional Development Portfolio for registered nurses and nurse practitioners (17 hours)

SPIFI Grant

The Specialist, Sub-specialty, Indigenous and Funding for Innovation (SPIFI) grant provides groups of rural physicians up to $10,000/fiscal year to assist in the design, planning, and development of innovative education opportunities.

The Joint Standing Committee on Rural Issues:  

(JSC) is providing one-time funding through RCCbc’s REAP program to facilitate Indigenous Cultural Safety (ICS) training for rural BC physicians. $500 bursaries are being made available to specialists and GPs for this training.

 all healthcare providers and specialists interested in ultrasound education.
Overview: Our newly launched series of six ultrasound case studies is ideal for those interested in learning more about point-of-care ultrasound education or wishing to refresh their knowledge. We invite you to join Sonnie, Your Ultrasound Partner, in a visual storytelling journey as you learn how to manage patients with conditions ranging from trauma to obstetrics in various rural and remote settings. This project was developed with funding from the Faculty of Medicine’s Strategic Investment Fund (SIF) and the Rural CPD Hands-On Ultrasound Education (HOUSE) program.

Late Effects of Childhood Cancers
